About Nohr’s Glass Immergence
Thank you for your interest in my glass art creations. I hope you are inspired by what you see here. This is a sampling of art glass items I have created for clients and some that are for sale. Please contact me with any questions.
I am self taught in Stained Glass and have been making custom windows large and small for many decades. I use the copper foil technique so I can achieve the details needed for that realistic design. My husband Rich and I do all of our own installations of my stained glass creations. We have the transportation necessary if the project requires traveling.
In 2001, I learned the techniques of glass etching, returning in 2002 for more advanced training at Professional Glass Consultants with Norm and Ruth Dobbins in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have etched windows, doors, mirrors, decorative items and architectural stone.
Our beginning in fused glass started November 2011 with our first firing in the hot tub size kiln. We have created the Emergence Series of glass leaves, formed on hand made stainless forms made by Rich. Since then we continue to invent new forms in metal, using them to form incredible glass objects. Fused glass jewelry and metal enameled items are fired in a smaller kiln. I enjoy creating fused glass dish ware and my one of a kind cheese and cracker tray sets.
Building yard art and sculptures is a favorite outlet of my husband Rich, the other half of the artistic team. Together the two of us entwine glass and metal to create unusual objects de art. Sometimes they are so weird we need to categorize them as Area 51 Art. Living in the great Santa Barbara County / Santa Ynez Valley wine area, acquiring wine bottles to make into art is an easy thing. Mixing metal and glass again, we have created a wine bottle tree, chandeliers, back splash, porch lights, cheese trays all from fused or cut wine bottles.
I love being a creative artist and especially enjoy the beauty of glass. My husband and biggest fan, wanted me to tell you that I was raised by wolves and that I just DO art to make this bio simple, but theres always the rest of the story. I do this art on the side, my real job is an auto mechanic, Rich and I own our own auto repair shop in Buellton, California, Nohrs Auto Haus. I have been a mechanic since 1974 and have enjoyed art and mechanics my whole adult life. What a mix, but it does work, we have both learned many skills which we use in our art work and sculpture making.
I hope you enjoy seeing my work and I would love to create something for you.
